East Coast Outpost Of Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel Coming to NY

by Sean McCaughan

Hotelman John Pritzker (yes, the scion of The Pritzkers, the family that awards the annual Pritzker architecture prize) is building the latest outpost of his Commune hotel chain at the historic art deco Crown Hotel on Miami Beach (originally called the Lord Tarleton). The hotel—which had been converted to apartments at one point—is being renovated by Kobi Karp, with landscaping by Raymond Jungles, and named the Roosevelt Crown, branded after the famous Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, which Commune also manages. Demo work is about to start. Mr. Pritzker earned his stripes at Hyatt Hotels, which his family also owns, before jumping ship and starting his own chain. More renderings, and floor plans, after the jump.
